Welcome parents and students to ESL at Lake Parsippany School!
ESL (English as a Second Language) is astate mandated support service provided to help English LanguageLearners (ELLs) gain the necessary skills needed to be successful in themainstream classroom. ESL instruction focuses on developing Englishlanguage proficiency in all four-language skills: Listening, Speaking,Reading, and Writing, while differentiating instruction withcomprehensive input and hands-on, audio-visual, and kinestheticactivities.
ESL teachers work closely with students’classroom teachers to ensure all students’ needs are being met. Classes meet in small groups using ESLmethodologies to enhance students’ learning. It is the goal of the ESL program to give EnglishLanguage Learners the opportunity to grasp the academic, social, andcultural aspects of the English language to be successful students andmembers of the community.
